Halloween is over but it’s not quite Christmas, so what is going on? Here’s our list of what do and see around Vestavia Hills this month.

1. Deck the Heights Holiday Open House

Thursday, Nov. 9 | 5-7 p.m.
Cahaba Heights

Get a head start on holiday shopping when businesses stay open late throughout Cahaba Heights. A shuttle service will make for easy transport between shops in the area, and kids can fill their “stocking” with stickers from merchants and at the end hang the stockings on the tree with Santa. Learn more here.

2. Holiday Market

Saturday, Nov. 11| 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Saint Mark United Methodist Church

Shop these handmade items to get ahead on your shopping and supporting church missions.

3. Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce Luncheon

Tuesday, Nov. 14 | 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Vestavia Country Club

Lt. Col. Bruce Bright, United States Marine Corps (retired), will speak during the lunch, and you can network with other Chamber members. Get tickets here.

4. Magical Marketplace

Friday, Nov. 17 | 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church

Already dreading what to buy that impossible-to-buy-for special someone in your life? Not to fear. Shop these arts and crafts, clothes, candles and scents, housewares, wooden items, toys, jewelry, hand-made items and more, all to benefit Unless U, and have it ready to wrap before Thanksgiving hits.

5. Buy Vestavia Hills

Saturday, Nov. 18 | All Day
Shops Throughout Vestavia Hills

Get out and shop around Vestavia, and along the way you can register to win gift baskets at participating merchants. The more stores you visit, the more chances you have to enter. Each basket will be worth around $500 and contain gift certificates and other gift items. More than 50 businesses will participate in this special shopping day. Learn more here.

6. Author Charles Ghigna and Friends

Saturday, Nov. 18 | 10:30 a.m.
Library in the Forest

Come see Charles Ghigna, aka “Father Goose,” and have him sign books inspired by children, pets, animals and nature. The Humane Society will also be on hand with puppies and kittens available for adoption, and Dynamic Education Adventures will perform a strange and gross animal program and have strange animals on display! All ages are welcome.

7. Holiday in the Hills Tree Lighting Festival

Tuesday, Nov. 28 | 6 p.m.
Vestavia Hills City Hall, 1032 Montgomery Highway

Ring in the season with this annual celebration of holiday lights. We hear Santa will be there, too, along with entertainment and merchant give-aways.
