How We Met: Back in 2009, I (Sanders) twirled baton in high school and was a majorette on a competition team with girls from other schools. A girl from Pelham High School told me about her friend named Jake and said that I would really like him. So, she convinced me to go to a baseball game. After the game, we met and it was an instant connection. Jake says to this day when he saw me that he almost fell out. We I became best friends from that day forward.
Favorite Moment: My favorite part of the big day was putting on my wedding dress and the veil with my mother and sister. Those special moments reminded me that the day was so precious and something I would never forget for the rest of my life. Another one of my favorite moments was when I got up to the altar with Jake, and it was just me, the preacher, Jake and God. It really felt like it was just us four as we were uniting as one with Christ. Getting on the trolley after the ceremony with all of our close friends and family was a memory that I will cherish forever. Knowing that we had friends and family who supported us on the journey in itself was a blessing.
Favorite Details: The organ is one of my favorite things to hear during a wedding ceremony. We wanted the organ to be played because we think it brings so much energy to the ceremony. We went with more traditional music for our ceremony: “Canon In D Major” by Johann Pachelbel, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” by Bach and Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus.” The flowers were absolutely stunning. Our wedding cakes were another favorite of ours.
